Sergey is one the leading sanctions lawyers in the Russian Federation. He has acted for over 20 Russian businesses to introduce internal sanctions compliance regulations. Sergey has advised high net worth individuals and corporates on a wide range of compliance issues relating to the Western and domestic sanctions regimes and export control. As a primary advisor, Sergey has also been involved in the administrative process of persuading the EU and OFAC to delist Russian individuals and business companies. He has assisted designated entities in dealing with the consequential effects of such restrictive measures in their own countries and worldwide. He is especially trusted by clients for discreet, commercial and strategic advice as for protection of business reputation, due diligence and positioning in compliance data bases (World-Check and its analogues).
Sergey is recognised in Forbes Club Legal Ranking 2021 in the “personal compliance” and in Kommersant 2021 in “compliance” category.
Sergey graduated from the post-graduate studies of the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences, where he completed PhD thesis in the “International law. European law” back in 2007, and the Law School of MNEPU in Moscow.

Sergey has been practising Brazilian capoeira since 2001; he also loves Latino social dances such as salsa and bachata. He enjoys roller-skating in summer. Sergey is a member of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Law School sailing team.
